SSM is an Australian audio/visual production company established in 2009, who specialise in producing podcasts, voice-over work, radio shows, audio and short-format video content. Well known for their work with Australian Defence Magazine and Ragtrader, SSM have expanded beyond their initial scope into the culinary, music, news and sports fields.
project role
Brand identity, creative direction, refresh including a new logo, revitalising existing marketing assets, branded merchandise and gear.
the challenge
The challenge was to develop a logo and branding which reflected both of the Director's dynamic personalities, the brand name and embraced the diversity of niches they serve.

The flowing S-curves represent Southern Skies form two distinct yet complementary arcs that reflect the unique personalities of the Directors.
Rendered in contrasting colours, they echo and support one another, just as the Directors do.
Rising above the sphere, the curves create a dynamic slipstream, which is not only a nod to strong their aviation roots, which symbolises movement, energy and their global reach.

We used Jo to re-design our company logo to great effect, so it was an obvious choice to bring her back for more projects, eventually leading to engagement with our company on a more regular basis. She has helped us with branding for clothing, business cards, promo material and flags. She's also managed the design aspects of our new website (releasing soon at the time of writing), including hands on styling and also re-working existing images to work better with available spaces.
She engages well with management and worked seemlessly with our developers. Her deliverables have included comprehensive brand kits, social media templates and brand books for printers and future designers. Her creativity, attention to detail, ability to anticipate our needs, and focus makes her a great fit with our "fun professional quality" approach to business and our clients.
Jo is an important part of the teams we establish for our projects and we're looking forward to working with her again soon.
